Thorp Crest

10.4.2024

Dear Thorp Families:

Today the students had a blast watching the teachers in the dunk tank! Thank you to Ms. Santos, Mr. Sertic, Mr. Coughlin, and the administration for being wonderful, water-logged sports. The Read-a-thon raised nearly $40,000. Thank you so much to Friends of Thorp and our phenomenal parent volunteers! As part of our Read-a-Thon we also debuted our Book Vending Machine. Every child will be able to select their own book on the day of their birthday or half-birthday. Thank you once again to FoT!

From the Counselors:

Personal Health and Safety Classes are delivered to K-4 grade classes on the topics of healthy habits, interpersonal relationships, gender identification and physical and emotional safety (including from abuse and bullying). These lessons have been developed by the CPS to meet all National and State Standards to meet age appropriate needs.

While we encourage all of our families to participate in this state requirement, there is an option to opt out of one or more lessons. Please complete the opt out form below. One per student. These lessons will begin in November.

K-4 Opt Out Form

Sexual Health Education classes are delivered to 5-8 grade classes in health and discuss healthy relationships, communication skills, gender identity, human reproduction, and sexual health.

Again, these lessons are a state requirement, but if any family feels compelled to opt out of one or more lessons, they must submit this in writing. Please use the form below. These lessons will take place in the 3rd quarter.
