I love coming to work everyday and seeing the passion for learning that our school and teachers inspire! As a child I never thought that I would grow up and be a teacher (much less a principal). Instead, I thought for sure I would have been a lawyer, a computer programmer, or even a biologist. But somewhere around my senior year of High School – I realized the impact that my teachers had made on me, and I hoped that I could one day help make that type of impact on others. Now, I have been the principal of this great school for almost a decade and a teacher for over 25 years. I hope that I have helped create an environment where meaningful and purposeful learning happens each day. I have many quotes and aphorisms that inspire me but one of my favorites is by John Taylor Gatto: “The primary goal of real education is not to deliver facts but to guide students to the truths that will allow them to take responsibility for their lives.” My hope is that at Thorp you will learn truths that will empower you as you create your life and better the lives of those around you.
