Dear Parents,

NWEA MAP testing will continue through Friday, May 23rd. Next week, students will take the Mathematics portion of the assessment.

Congratulations to our seventh grade Math Champs team who recently took second place in their mathematics competitions. Please see for additional competiton information. Regarding the History Fair competition, Michael Puzcko, Miles Pates, and Patrick Archacki scored in the Superior category at the history fair with 98%. Lucas Nelson from Room 302 also scored in the Superior category as well. Congratulations, Thorp students, for your dedication and hard work! Thorp’s Academic Fair will be held from Tuesday, May 27th through Friday, May 30th. Parent Night will be on Thursday, May 29th.

 Thank you for everyone who supported our Annual Spring Carnival last Saturday that was hosted by the Thorp PTA. The Thorp PTA will host a Parent’s night out at Chief O’Neills on Friday, May 30th. The next scheduled Thorp PTA meeting will be held on Thursday, May 15th.The next scheduled Local School Council Meeting will be held on Wednesday, June 4th at 6:15 p.m.

Our Peter Pan performances will be on Friday, May 30th and Saturday, May 31st. On Friday, the first performance will be from 8:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m for grades K – 5. The second performance will be from 10:15 a.m. to 11:35 a.m. On Saturday, May 31st, the first performance will be from 1:00 p.m. to 2:20 p.m. The second performance will be from 4:00 p.m. to 5:20 p.m.

Tryouts for the Thorp Talent Show will be during the week of May 27th and the performance will be on the afternoon of June13th. The talent show will be part of our Spirit Week during the last week of school. Also, Field Day for grades K – 5 will be all day on June 12th, while sixth and seventh grades will be on the morning of June 13th.

Our Kaboom Playground Design Day on May 6th was a great success. Thank you to everyone who participated. For more information regarding our playground development, please visit Thorp’s Kaboom/Dr. Pepper/Snapple  Playground Build Day will be on August 9, from 7:30 a.m. -12:00 p.m.  This will be a community build effort, requiring more than 200 volunteers to help make our kid’s playground dreams a reality in such a short time span. Put it on your calendar now and get ready to help us literally build a playground in a day! Any and all help is appreciated for whatever you can give, including community connections, food donations for the volunteers, construction help/tool lending, gardening skills etc.  To be added to the volunteer list or for more information, please email
