Friday Letter 4.26.13

4.26.13

Dear Parents,

I would like to remind you that with the exceptions of the paid programs, our after-school clubs have ended. Thank you to all students who participated and to all the teachers who sponsored our extra-curricular activities. The unique learning opportunities offered by our more than 30 extra-curricular programs, exemplify our commitment to the education of the whole child.

Just a reminder, MAP testing will occur from May 13th through May 24th. If you are looking for additional guidance, visit the Thorp website and type “ILP” or “NWEA” in the search box. You may also want to look under the “Parents Menu” for more resources.

Some parents have expressed concerns about our new entrance policy. We are opening the doors to the building at 7:30AM and having the students sit in the auditorium. If you would like to stay outside with your child, you may, but we ask that all students be in the auditorium by 7:40AM. As always, we are looking for parent volunteers both for morning drop-off, recess, and dismissal. If you can help us, please send Mrs. Dean a note (ddean@cps.edu). If you can only help once in a while that is fine too, just let us know.

The Friends of Thorp Fresh Picks fundraiser begins in May (you can place your first order April 30) so check out the Fresh Picks website (www.freshpicks.com) for your ordering options. Visit the FoT website for more details.

Finally, I would like to congratulate our Track and Field Teams as well as their coach Mrs. McNally for their 1st place performance at Resurrection High School’s Wolf Invitational. Well done!

Thank you for your support,

Efren Toledo
