PARCC Assessments: Parents, Thorp School, along with the rest of CPS, will be administering the PARCC Assessment next week. The test will occur in two rounds. The first round of PARCC Assessments will be March 10, 11, and 12 and will test both Reading and Math. Students in grades 3 to 5 will be given a paper-based assessment, while grades 6 to 8 will be given a computer-based assessment. Grades K to 2 will not be tested. Saturday School for selected 6th and 8th grade students will begin tomorrow, Saturday, March 7th from 7:15 a.m. to 8:45 a.m. This program is mandatory for all potential summer school attendees. After School All Stars (ASAS) will have all academic classes, coding, and media sessions run until April 3rd.

Our next FOT meeting is Thursday, March 12th at 6:30 p.m. at Lisa Weisenberger’s house, 5341 W Belle Plaine. With Taste of Thorp around the corner, we are looking for volunteers and donations! Our Spring “Under the Sea” themed book fair is March 16th – 20th. We will have a special family night on Wednesday March 18 from 6pm – 8pm. Parents, the PTA is looking for volunteers to help students choose the perfect book. You can volunteer for part of a day, an entire day, or whatever your schedule allows. If you are available to help, we would love to see you there!
