Friday Letter: 1/04/2013

Dear Parents,

I want to start by thanking all of you for your kind gifts and words during the holiday season. I hope that 2013 will be a year filled with health and blessings for all of the members of the Thorp family.

Here are some of the events happening in the next few weeks:

There will be no Saturday School this Saturday. Saturday School resumes on Saturday, January 12th.

Winter MAP Testing begins on January 14th. For more information on MAP testing please visit our website.

We are developing the designs for the Thorp Campus Park. Friends of Thorp will be hosting a brainstorming session with Urban Habitats on Saturday, January 26 from 9:45 am – 12:00 pm at the school. Children, parents and the community are all welcome to attend. On Sunday the 27th we will present our initial plans along with preliminary sketches and models. Your input is very important. Please fill out the online survey at:

Parents, some of you have asked about our recess policy during the winter months. When the temperature drops below 40F, we allow students to come in and warm up during their recess. Many students prefer to stay outside, however, if your child is not appropriately dressed for the cold weather they will be kept indoors.

Thank you to all of the parents who have volunteered to help us during the school day. Mrs. Dean is finalizing a schedule and will be calling you next week to set up times.

As always, if you have any questions or concerns about anything happening at Thorp please feel free to let me know.

Together we will make 2013 a great year in the education of your child.
