Dear Parents,

Due to the changes in the CPS calendar, report card distribution will be on February 10th. This will necessitate rescheduling our first semester Awards Assembly to Wednesday, February 18th. At our Awards Assembly, we will recognize students who have achieved Eagle Roll (A,B, & C grades in all subjects without any checks for conduct); Honor Roll (A’s & B’s in all subjects without any checks for conduct); and Super Honor Roll (Straight A’s and no checks). Parents will be notified if their child will be receiving an award.

On another note, parents please remind your child to wear their school ID during school hours and especially if they eat school lunch. This expedites our meal service and ensures that your child will have enough time to eat lunch. Students who are not wearing their ID’s will be asked to go to the end of the line at lunch time.

Our school winter play “Our Son, Pinocchio”, sponsored by Windy City Music Theatre, will be held on Saturday January 31st at 2:00 p.m. Please come out and support our very talented students. Tickets are $4 for kids and $8 for adults at the door. For more information, please visit our website. Friends of Thorp:

Mark your calendars now for Friday, April 24 for our Annual Taste of Thorp event at Biagio! To make sure our silent and live auctions are even more successful than last year, we are in need of donations, including sports, movie or theater tickets, passes to museums, gift certificates to restaurants, retail stores, spas, jewelry, one-of-a kind crafts, airline tickets, hotel stays, sports memorabilia and other unique experiences. No donation is too small! If you are willing to help, the auction item deadline is March 27, 2015. You should have received a flyer with complete details and a donation form in your child’s backpack. PTA News and Information

Want to win a Pizza Party for your child’s class? The PTA will give the 1st class with 100% PTA Membership a
pizza party in the Spring. Now is the perfect time to become an official PTA member! Membership forms are available in the office: $5.00 Individual, $10.00 Family. Thorp Family Movie Night is Friday February 13th! The Thorp PTA will host a free showing of the movie, The Box Trolls. Doors open at 6:00pm and the movie start time is 6:30pm. Popcorn and beverages will be available for purchase. Does your child like Smencils and/or scented bookmarks? The PTA and 8th graders will be selling them for $1.00 each at lunch time during the week of February 9-13. The February PTA Meeting will be held Wednesday, February 4th, 2015 at 1:30pm in the large lunchroom. Please join us to hear about our events for 2015!
