Battle of the Books News

Dear Families of Battle of the Books Members,

Thank you for encouraging your child to participate in the literacy program of the year – the CPS Elementary Battle of the Books 2018!

Each team has been busy reading from a list of 21 books to be prepared to answer questions in an online qualifying battle about the books. The battle questions will be e-mailed to us on March 20th for grades 4-6 and March 21st for grades 7-8. Team members need to stay after school  until 4:00 to complete the online qualifying test on the day that they are tested (4 – 6 March 20    7-8 on March 21).

Team members have been reading, discussing, taking notes, writing summaries, writing questions and quizzing each other on the 21 books on their grade level list. They’ve been working really hard and have also been having fun with bells and buzzers in our Mock Battles.

After students take the online qualifying battles at school in the Library on March 20th and March 21st, the top scoring thirty teams from across the city will be invited to participate in the CPS City Finals live event at the Little Village Lawndale High School Campus on Saturday, April 21st.

Please complete a survey about your experience with Battle of the Books this year to help us make it even better.
