May 17, 2013
I would like to start this letter by thanking Huron Consulting as well as our 8th grade students and parent volunteers. The fence around Warwick and Meade was completely painted. We are finishing up the fence on Austin Ave. I think another volunteer day may be coming soon.
I would also like to thank the PTA, Mrs. Guzman, Mrs. Gantz, Mrs. Stowell, Thorp Student Council and all of the students who auditioned for our Thorp Talent Show. Student council members selected the acts that will be performing on May 31st. However, all students who auditioned will receive recognition at our Awards Assembly.
While on the topic of Awards Assembly, it was pointed out that the Awards Assembly date was originally scheduled at the beginning of the year – when graduation was to occur on the first week of June. After numerous discussions with our teachers, we are changing our Awards Assembly date to Friday, June 7th. Please pardon the change of plans. If your child will be receiving an award you will be notified next week so that you can make accommodations. We will not change the date again.
Next week will conclude our MAP testing session. Thank you to all of our parents who have monitored your child’s MAP progress during the year. We will have results distributed by the end of May.
Next Monday, Tuesday and Thursday we will have our Jog-a-thon during gym and health classes. Also, our Thorp Yearbook (grades K-7) is currently for sale for the pre-release price of $15.00. Please see the website for more information about both items.
June 5th we will have an orientation meeting for parents who are new to Thorp at 6:30PM. This meeting will be for parents only.
The Thorp PTA is partnering with Chili’s in Village Crossing. Please visit the Thorp Website for more information.
Thank you for your support of our school.
