Sunny Days in Science

Through our National Geographics science program, our second graders have

been learning about the sun, moon, and stars.  This program integrates many

lessons into a unit.  In the photographs that you are about to see, students

are working on the project aspect of the assignment. However, before the

cutting and gluing began, there was research that our scientists had to do.  They

read many nonfiction and informational texts on the sun.  They took notes, in their

own words, of facts that they felt were important.  Then the note taking became

part of the  hands- on activity!

This students is trnsferring the facts that she wrote during her research and writing them onto her sun rays.
