Happy New Year

Dear Parents,

Happy New Year! There will be no Saturday School this Saturday due to the Martin Luther King Holiday on Monday. Progress reports went out this week as well as NWEA results for the Winter Session. If you have any questions please feel free to email your child’s teacher.

January Door Contest: Just in Time for Valentine’s Day – Thorp has Heart! We will again have a room competition for those willing to participate.  The student body will vote for the winner from 1/28 to 1/31. The winning classroom teacher will receive a $50 Amazon Gift Card on February 1st

We will be hosting 8-10 students from China from February 1st to the 15th. The Chinese Cultural Exchange program is a wonderful experience for our families. If you would like to participate please fill out the Interest Survey.   

After-School Winter Session:

We are pleased to provide the OST ( Out of School Time) for our Students.  The third session begins January 16th until February 22nd from 2:30 to 3:45 p.m. Registration is available here.

7th Grade News:

Help our 7th-grade students travel to Washington DC! Purchase a Lou Malnati’s frozen pizza certificate for $13.00/each.  Pizza coupons may be redeemed at any area Lou Malnati’s location for one 9” FROZEN pizza (sausage, pepperoni, cheese, or spinach). Coupons will be delivered to students at a later date. Each coupon is valid for 6 months from the date the order is placed.  Dates of Sale: December 13 to January 19.  You can purchase online at the Thorp website.  Tickets will be delivered to all who purchase on January 26th.

 

8th Grade News:

Save the date! Sky High Sports Fundraiser (Niles location) on Thursday 2/1 4-9pm. (No school on 2/2.) Come bounce around with friends for a good cause. Funds raised go towards the Class of 2018. Thanks for all of your support this year!

PTA News and Information:

We are in need of parent volunteers to help with morning drop-off and traffic control. This is one very tangible way that you can help contribute to our school. Even one or two days can help. Please reach out to Mrs. Nespoux at mnespoux@gmail.com.

We hope you will join us in 2018 for movie nights and our spring book Fair!

The next Friends of Thorp Meeting is Thursday, January 18th at Burcu Agar’s home 5817 W. Wilson 6:30 pm.

Save the date for annual Pub Quiz 1/28/18 from 3-6 at MCM Pub 3906 N. Cicero. Information was sent home today.  $20/person  $35/couple  At the door: $25/person
